The following tools are not free, but they could be helpful for you as a writer. I currently use these products/services or have used used them in the past, so I’m recommending them after having first-hand experience:
Aweber
If you have your own blog, Aweber is a great way to manage your reader list. If you want to make money from your blog, I don’t recommend getting started without some kind of way for people to subscribe to your list, which you can subsequently use for publishing a newsletter, promoting your products/services, selling affiliate products, and keeping in touch with readers. The first subscription level for this service (which is all you need to get started) costs $20 for the first two months and $19 per month thereafter. Click this banner to learn more or sign up:
Elance
Elance is a bidding site where you can find freelancing work. There are pros and cons to such a site, but I personally have found thousands of dollars of work with this resource. You can sign up for a free account to test out the service, but to be most successful, you probably need at least the $10 per month account, since you won’t be awarded every job you want.
CopyScape
You can use CopyScape to check your articles if you’re worried about plagiarism. Their free service allows you to enter you website’s URL (if you have one) to make sure that no one is ripping off your hard work. I recommend paying $5 every so often for credits to check your articles too. It goes without saying that you shouldn’t copy anyone’s work, but occasionally you’ll need to explain something that is extremely hard to write in unique terms, so you can use CopyScape to ensure what you write is different enough to avoid problems.
BizCard
I definitely recommend ordering business cards, and I’ve loved the ones I’ve received from BizCard. The site is easy to use if you want to upload your own design, and I love the fact that they’re an eco-friend printer. On the download, their business cards are a bit pricey compared to some other sites, but I’ve also yet to find better quality cards, so I feel like the cost is worth it.
Disclosure: Some of the services and products listed on this page are affiliates, which means that I get a cut of the money if you make a purchase. You won’t pay any more/less by using my links.
