    About this Site

After Graduation is a site geared toward writers who are new to the whole "freelance thing." I remember how hard is was when I started, and how hard it can still be, years later. DON'T GIVE UP. If you're devoted to learning this business and have a little talent when it comes to writing, you can make a living as a freelance writer.

Along with tips to help you get your writing business up and running, After Graduation is filled with advice specifically for the young adult crowd. After graduating from high school or college, you're thrown to the world, and for some of you, this may be the first time Mom and Dad haven't been around to bail you out. I realize that not everyone new to freelance writing, needs help creating a budget, advice on apartment hunting, or tips on where to find insurance, but those resources (and more) are here if you need them.

I don't pretend to know all of the answers. I learn new things every day, and want to pass it all on, hopefully making your transition from school (or another career) to freelancing much easier than my own.

    About Allison

meWhen I was a kid, I can remember being so excited to learn how to writer letters and spell words. It was finally possible to get all of my stories and thoughts onto paper! However, I never imagined that I could actually be a writer when I "grew up." It seemed more like a hobby than an actual job.

But earning a living as a writer is possible, and I'm proof of that. After my graduation, I leaped in with both feet, deciding to give the freelancing thing a try for one year. If I wasn't making a decent living by January 2008, I would get a "real job" or *gasp* move back in with mom and dad.

Needless to say, that wasn't necessary...but it took a lot of hard work, and most the tips and tricks I share here are things that I wish someone would have told me as a new freelancer. Today, I'm my own boss, and although freelancing can be stressful at times, I wouldn't change my life for anything. If you're interested in learning more about me, check out Allison's corner!
